Musical Adaptations
Saramago has collaborated with Italian composer Azio Corghi to write
librettos for two operas composed by Corghi. The first is "Blimunda" (1990)
based on the novel O Memorial do Convento. The second is "Divara,
Wasser und Blut" (1993(?)) based on the play In Nomine Dei.
Corghi has also composed a cantata inspired by a passage in the novel O
Evangelho Segundo Jesus Cristo.

A special monographic thematic issue in honor of Saramago's winning
of the 1998 Nobel Prize for Literature. Beautifully rendered compilation
of new contributions of scholarship on Saramago, and a small amount
of previously unpublished material by Saramago (see "Selected
Additional Publications by Saramago" above). Most of the
content is in Portuguese, with articles in English, Spanish, and
French.
Complementing the scholarship and writing of Saramago, are specially
created artwork and poetry, reproductions of personal photographs,
as well as facsimiles of related ephemeral materials, such as part
of an issue of Vertice in which a story Saramago wrote was
published (appearing between p. 116 and p. 117) with a folded original
typed manuscript sheet tucked into the "issue". Also of note is a
diary/scrapbook (inserted between p. 472 and p. 473) by Pilar del
Rio (a Spanish journalist and Saramago’s wife) of the period of time
between the announcement of the Saramago being named the 1998 Nobel
Laureate for Literature in October 1998 through Saramago's trip to
Sweden to receive the Nobel Prize in December 1998.
