Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards and Personal Wheeled Transportation

Last updated: June 28, 2016

Skateboards, Scooters, Roller-skates and Roller-blades may be hand carried into the libraries, but they cannot be ridden inside. The libraries do not have a designated place to store these items so they must be placed out of the aisles and under a table or cubicle. Bicycles and motorized scooters or vehicles are strictly prohibited inside the buildings. Items of this nature may be stored in the designated bike rack areas only which are located near the Libraries' buildings.

The University's Hoverboard Policy bans the use, possession, charging, or storage of self-balancing, battery-powered boards known as hoverboards, sometimes referred to as electronic skateboards or scooters, and other similar equipment at buildings and housing units in all University locations including medical centers. Questions about UCI’s implementation of this policy can be directed to the UCI Fire Marshal at 949 824-6200. See http://www.policies.uci.edu/policies/procs/904-13.html for details.
