Respect the Copyrights of Others Workshop: How to use materials created by others.
Respect the Copyrights of Others
May 7, 2013, Langson Library Room 570
Lunch: 11:30 -12 pm
Workshop: 12 - 1 pm
As faculty and graduate students engaged in knowledge
creation, you want others to respect your copyrights. But
what about those times when you want to use materials
created by others? Does copyright mean that you are
limited to using only those materials that you create?
(Hint: no.) Or are
there ways that you can incorporate the work of others
into your own work? (Hint:
come find out!)
This workshop, led by Kyhm Penfil, UCI Campus Counsel,
Carol Hughes, Associate University Librarian for Public
Services, and Cathy Palmer, Libraries' Head of Education
and Outreach, will:
- Help you understand copyright law and how it affects your use of others’ work;
- Provide information about how to determine when you need copyright permissions;
- Provide information on how to obtain copyright permissions;
- Introduce you to resources where you can get more help.
Light
lunch provided by the UC Irvine Libraries' Public Services
Department.
