Summer 2010 Project
Transfer of Langson Library Microforms and U & V Call Numbers to Ayala Science Library
Background: The Langson Library is at over 100% operational capacity, and there is a critical need to make sufficient space to accommodate new books that support teaching and research, and to provide more space for studying.
Over the summer (approximately early September 2010), the UCI Libraries plan to relocate the following Langson Library collections to the Ayala Science Library:
- Microforms that currently reside on the 1st and 2nd floors, microform viewing equipment, and accompanying guides and indexes to microform sets. This includes Government Information Microforms.
- Microforms' new location: inside the Ayala Science Library Grand Reading Room (2nd floor). Materials can be paged Mondays-Fridays, until the Grand Reading Room reopens. Please submit a paging request at the Ayala Science Check Out Desk or the Langson Reference Desk between 9am-5pm, Mondays to Fridays.
- Call Numbers “U” (Military History) and “V” (Naval History) – both Monographs and Serials.
- "U" & "V" new location: these are now shelved in the Ayala Science Library stacks by call number order. Monographs (SL 6th floor) and Serials (SL 5th floor)
Compared to other Langson Library collections, these collections have lower usage statistics and are becoming increasingly available as online resources so will cause less disruption to research and teaching given that the two libraries are within walking distance. If you have any questions, please contact Lorelei Tanji (AUL for Collections, email@example.com) or your subject librarian (http://www.lib.uci.edu/about/contact/subject-librarians.html).
