Weather & Climate

Finding information resources on various aspects of Weather and Climate at the UCI Libraries can take different paths. This brief pathfinder will direct you to a range of resources to support many interests and interdisciplinary directions and intersections.   • Web of Science* - major indexing tool for scholarly science coverage; suggest restricting search to the Science Citation Index (1900+) or the Social Sciences Citation Index (1956+) only depending on the subject emphasis you seek and limiting years of coverage as needed
  • Columbia earthscape: an online resource on the global environment* Provides full-text information resources related to education and research in the earth sciences and public policy, including papers, conference, journal abstracts, books and databases.
  • Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management* - major indexing tool for journal coverage of environmental sciences
  • BIOSIS* - Indexes and abstracts the life sciences literature as well as that of ecology and environment on a global scale
  • Encyclopedia of Earth An electronic reference about the Earth, its natural environments, and their interaction with society.
  • AccessScience* - the online equivalent of the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology
  • GeoBase* - indexes journals and abstracts in the fields of ecology, environmental science, geology, etc.
  • GeoRef* - Indexes publications in geology, seismology, marine geology, geophysics, geochemistry, geological maps, hydrology, & archaeology
  • PAIS International* - indexes books, book chapters, journal literature and government information on public administration and public policy issues related to environmental sustainability
  • Source OECD* - international coverage available via the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
  • Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change - reference with information on conservation and environmental problems
  • Encyclopedia of Global Change* - new encyclopedia that covers 300 entries on a global scale.
E-Book Collections
  1. CRCnetBase* - Collection of full-text books from CRC Press; recommend searching in EnviroNetBase and then under Climate; retrieval at chapter level based on relevancy
  2. Knovel* - Large collection of engineering and chemistry full-text books from a variety of publishers, under Weather and Climate.
  3. National Academies Press - The research programs and publications presented and issued by the National Academies are an excellent source of information and are freely available and explore different aspects of sustainability.
