University Archives: Major Collections - Gender and Diversity

 

The University Archives has both published materials and administrative records documenting the efforts, organizations, and events at UCI to support a diverse community. Topics include equal opportunity and affirmative action programs at UCI, the activities of student organizations that serve women and ethnic groups, and the development of a cross-cultural and diverse curriculum.

  • University of California, Irvine, Women's Resource Center Records (AS-015)
    Documents the activities and interests of the Women's Resource Center, an organization focused on the welfare of UCI women. Materials include by-laws, minutes, reports, correspondence, newsletters, pamphlets, fliers, articles, videotapes, and photographs. Represented issues include affirmative action, feminism, child care, rape prevention, and sexual harassment.
  • Cross Cultural Center Records (AS-052)
    Documents the Cross Cultural Center's mission to offer programs that support UCI's culturally and ethnically diverse community.  Contains administrative records, program and event planning materials, and committee files. The collection has not yet been organized; please contact us for more information.
  • Central Records Unit Records (AS-004)  
    Contains materials relating to affirmative action for students and staff, and equal opportunity for women.
  • Collection on the University of California, Irvine, Educational Opportunity Program (AS-019)
    The Educational Opportunity Program started in 1968 to assist largely minority students who would not ordinarily be admitted to UCI, but who showed promise. Records include collected materials about the program and scrapbooks. The collection has not yet been organized; please contact us for more information.
