The opening of the Libraries’ new exhibition features a presentation
by three speakers who will bring to life the ultimate purpose of our
library resources: to inspire and inform students and scholars as they
teach, learn, and create new knowledge. Carole Autori will describe
her research project for a recent course in Chicano/Latino history; Jessica
Haile will discuss her work with the Jacques Derrida Papers; and Lynn
Mally will share some of her techniques for inspiring students through
the use of primary sources in class assignments.
“Building Special Collections” was curated by seven new
librarians, and highlights some of the exciting rarities acquired by
Special Collections and Archives in recent years. It features a selection
of rare books and archival materials on dance history, contemporary American
literature, photography between the World Wars, African American icons,
stage choreography, California fine printing and UCI student publications.
The event is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be on display through September in the Langson Library’s
Reynolds Gallery during regular library hours. Please call (949)
824-7227 for further information on the exhibit.
