Current Contents Discontinued
At a systemwide level, the Current Contents (1993-present) database
will be discontinued as of January 1, 2005. There is a 100% content overlap of
Current Contents in the larger Web
of Science database. (Both Current Contents and Web of Science
are ISI databases.) Web of Science allows simultaneous (or individual)
searching within the Science Citation Index (1945-present), Social
Sciences Citation Index (1956-present ) and the Arts & Humanities
Citation Index (1975-present.) As you can see, the dates of coverage for
Web of Science are more extensive than Current Contents. Also,
Web of Science is updated weekly and will retrieve more content as compared
to similar searches in Current Contents. Additional ports have been added
to Web of Science in anticipation of greater usage.
