ABI/INFORM Global
The UC Business/Economics bibliographer group, after comparing
and evaluating content in ProQuest's ABI/INFORM Global and EBSCO's
Business Source Premier databases, recommended a transition to
the EBSCO product in 2005 and will not be renewing the ABI/INFORM
Global license when it ends on August 1, 2005.
Access to Business Source
Premier began on October 1, 2004.
BIOSIS Previews
After much testing and careful deliberation, the University of
California BIOSIS liaisons decided to move the BIOSIS Previews
database from the Ovid platform to ISI's Web of Knowledge.
There will be an overlap period beginning immediately and continuing
through December 30, 2005. As of January 1, 2006,
ISI's Web of Knowledge will be the sole source for UC's subscription
to BIOSIS Previews.
The new BIOSIS Previews database is currently available at: http://isiknowledge.com/biosis.
ERIC
UC access to ERIC via OCLC's FirstSearch platform ended on June
30, 2005. UC access is now via Cambridge Scientific
Abstracts (CSA).
Access to ERIC
via CSA is now available.
Modern Language Association International Bibliography
Because the Modern Language Association (MLA) is removing its
databases from the Ovid platform, access to Ovid's version of the
MLA International Bibliography and the MLA Directory of Periodicals
databases ended on June 30, 2005. After careful
review and analysis of several vendor platforms by UC Bibliographers,
Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) was selected as the new vendor.
As of July 1, CSA will be the sole source for UC's subscription
to the MLA International Bibliography and the MLA Directory of
Periodicals databases.
The new MLA International Bibliography database is currently available
at: http://www.cdlib.org/hlp/directory/mla_csa.html.
The new MLA Directory of Periodicals database is currently available
