This year's winners are:

The winners were announced to the public on March 31 at the Libraries "Meet the Author" event featuring national bestselling author Adeline Yen Mah. This contest is made possible by the generous support of Nellie Ansley Reeves, a former benefactor of the Libraries who was dedicated to supporting the joy of reading and writing. The contest is open to any registered student at UCI. Students are asked to write an original essay of approximately four to six pages or 1000 to 1500 words in length on the theme The Joy of Reading. Judges are appointed by the UC Irvine Libraries and consist of UCI librarians and faculty from the UCI Writing program.
