Unbound Central

(Access restricted to UCI students, faculty, and staff)

Unbound Central  Unbound Central

The UC Irvine Libraries have a trial to Unbound Central through November 2008, including the PDA versions of:

  • the Merck Manual
  • Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary
  • BMJ's Clinical Evidence
  • Emergency Medicine Manual
  • The Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests

The trial is only available to UCI students, faculty, and staff.

These resources can be accessed on the web from a PC or from an Internet-enabled wireless device (Treo, BlackBerry or iPhone), and can also be downloaded to a PDA (Palm or PocketPC).

Registration is NOT required for on-campus web access. Registration is only needed to receive PDA downloads and for off-campus web access.

Web access is available at website: http://www.unboundmedicine.com/unbound/

On-campus PDA access: First time PDA users click here and register to create your individual Unbound Central account. After registering, you will soon receive an e-mail with instructions on how to add content to your PDA device. You will also be able to use your individual Unbound Central account to access Unbound Central from off-campus.

Off-campus PDA access: First time PDA users must use UCI's WebVPN to register an account on Unbound Central's website. Click here and login with your UCInetID and password. Enter "http://www.unboundmedicine.com/unbound/" as the Web Address to access Unbound Central's home page. From the home page, click on "Register for PDA Download" to create your individual Unbound Central account. After registering, you will soon receive an e-mail with instructions on how to add content to your PDA device. Already registered users do not need to use WebVPN.
