Holds and Recalls
Users may place a request for holds, recalls, or searches on items at any UCI Libraries Check Out Desk.
Please return or renew your checked out items promptly. If a book you have is recalled, the new due date is in effect and you must return the item on or before that date to avoid fines. If a book you have has a hold placed on it, fines will be assessed if the item is not returned by the due date. Items with holds and recalls placed on them cannot be renewed.
Fines and Fees
Users are fined $1 per day for overdue recalls.
Users are billed for the cost of unreturned, damaged, or lost books. Bills include the replacement cost for each book and a $10 per-item processing charge. Campus Billing Services will add extra charges to invoices not paid within 30 days.
To avoid these charges, renew or return items on or before the due dates and times. Library privileges are suspended until charges are paid.
