Karl Menninger, M.D.

Karl Menninger, M.D., is chairman of the board of trustees of the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas. During an illustrious career spanning nearly seventy years, he has held such positions as founder and dean of the Menninger School of Psychiatry, professor-at-large at the University of Kansas, and distinguished professor of psychiatry at the University of Chicago. His professional service has included the President's Task Force on Prisoner Rehabilitation, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, and membership on the board of overseers of the Lemberg Center for the Study of Violence.

Dr. Menninger has authored numerous books, including Human Mind, The Vital Balance, and The Crime of Punishment. His recognitions include the Roscoe Pound Award of the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, the N. W. Salmon Award of the New York Academy of Medicine, the Sheen Award from the American Medical Association, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
