Collections feature
Departments and ORUs with sites in the repository will now be able to “collect” postprints
and display them as a papers series, similar to working paper series and technical
reports. The site’s administrator will need to contact bepress to activate
the feature, but once trained, administrators will be able to identify and
display their faculty’s postprints in the context of the ORU site. See
an example at http://repositories.cdlib.org/ctcre/ .
Administrator upload of postprints
The long awaited and much requested amendment to the postprints upload feature
is ready for launch. Authors will now be able to assign the authority to
upload postprints to an assistant or administrator of their choice. In this
first release, the only assignable postprints will be those that are specifically
sent to the author (from Web of Science harvesting), though we plan to expand
the service later to accommodate upload of postprints from scratch. This
fall, to roll out and publicize this feature, we will be resending all of
the previously harvested citations that were emailed to authors this past
spring (filtering out any postprints that have already been submitted). The
proxy feature should be in place in the next week and letters to eScholarship
Repository authors will follow.
Postprints unique identifier field
Authors can now include a unique id from another repository or index when uploading
a postprint. The unique id will display in the suggested citation (eg. S.
B. Giddings, "High energy QCD scattering, the shape of gravity on an
IR brane, and the Froissart bound" (2003). Physical Review D. 67 (12),
Article 126001. arXiv: hep-th/0203004 Postprint available free at: http://repositories.cdlib.org/postprints/505).
By implementing this feature now, we are able to collect information that
may become critical in future efforts to resolve multiple versions and the
appropriate copy problem.
