MRC Course Reserves
Find Media on Course Reserves
Use ANTPAC, the UCI Library Catalog, to determine what materials have been placed on Course Reserves for a class.
Course Reserves materials are listed by course name or by instructor.
MRC Course Reserves Lending Policies
MRC Course Reserves material may be used by UCI students, faculty, and staff only. Borrowers must have a valid UCI library card in hand to check out material.
MRC Course Reserves material can be checked out for three hours and used in the MRC only. An exception to the three-hour loan period is made for UCI faculty, graduate instructors and staff instructors who need to show an MRC videorecording in the classroom.
Materials and equipment checked out from the Multimedia Resources Center (MRC) must be returned to the MRC during normal business hours.
Holds
Holds cannot be placed on MRC Course Reserves material. UCI faculty, graduate instructors and staff instructors can book videorecordings for specific classroom showing dates by completing the MRC Media Use and Booking Form.
Overdue Fines
An item is overdue if it is returned to the MRC Desk after the time and date it is due. Strict fines are levied to ensure timely return of Reserve materials so that others may use them.
There is a 14-minute grace period, but fines will start accruing immediately at 15 minutes overdue.
A $2 per hour (or any portion of that hour) fine per item will be charged on overdue Reserve material for the first ten hours.
Example: A $6 fine will be charged for Reserve material returned at 2:01 p.m. that was due at noon that day.
A $5 per hour (or any portion of that hour) fine per item will be charged on overdue Reserve material after the first ten hours.
Example: A $30 fine will be charged for Reserve material returned at 8:36 pm that was due at 9:30 am that day.
The maximum total fine for an overdue item is $50.
You will be billed for the cost of the Reserve item plus processing charges if the item is lost or never returned.
Unpaid fines may accumulate additional late fees and result in the suspension of UCI Libraries privileges.
Dispute ResolutionFines, replacement charges, and fees are due and payable upon receipt of notice. When a borrower responds to an overdue or recall notice with the claim that the item has been returned, the Library will thoroughly investigate. If findings indicate that an error was made on the part of the UCI Libraries, all charges for that item will be canceled. Decisions to waive fines or charges will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the Billing Supervisor, Manager and/or Onsite Circulation Coordinator.
