Banned Books Week 2020

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read, and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. This year the UCI Libraries' are amplifying Banned Books Week to focus on books written by POC (People of Color) authors.

This year the UCI Libraries' invites you to participate in a social media campaign during Banned Books Week. Readers will have the opportunity to share a video of themselves reading a selected passage from a Banned Book on UCI Libraries' social media accounts.

 

All UCI students, faculty and staff to are invited to participate in the Banned Books Week. Access to books seen on the UCI Libraries' Banned Books Virtual Book Display is available only to UCI affiliates.

UCI Alumni and community members are also invited to join. To obtain a copy of the books, check with your local public library or you may purchase copies at your local bookstore.

 

During Banned Books Week, visit UCI Libraries' social media accounts to enjoy videos of participants reading selected passages from Banned Books. Join us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
