Digital Services Expert Joins Library Staff

The Libraries recently welcomed Digital Services Manager Jason Moore to UCI.  In this newly-created position, Jason will serve as a resource to librarians and faculty seeking to create scholarly digital resources, including projects related to electronic publishing and other local web-based scholarly information services.

Jason’s position is a new twist on the traditional “Webmaster” role that recognizes the skyrocketing importance of a wide array of research library digital resources and services.  As Digital Services Manager, he will also coordinate the design and development of the UCI Libraries website, with particular attention to quality and usability, and will work closely with other technical staff to enhance our digital library capabilities and services.

Jason came to UCI from Brown University, where he received a master’s degree in Computer Music and Multimedia Composition, was a member of the Instructional Technology Group, and served as a teaching assistant in the Music Department.  He had earlier worked with faculty at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, on development of Ibiblio.org, a Web repository of freely-available software and information relating to music, literature, art, history, science, politics, and cultural studies.  While at UNC Jason earned a B.A. in Networked Multimedia/Interdisciplinary Studies and worked at the School of Medicine for Intrah.org, a program that helps developing countries improve the delivery of reproductive health services through improved preparation and utilization of health workers.
