Standard & Poor’s NetAdvantage is a powerful web resource licensed by the UCI Libraries that offers a wealth of investment-oriented information of interest to personal investors, as well as to scholars and students of finance and investment.

NetAdvantage is a comprehensive source in its field. It offers access to Standard & Poor’s highly-regarded independent research, data, and commentary on stocks, bonds, funds, and industries. The site’s searching and screening tools also facilitate academic study and research.

The range of content makes NetAdvantage an exceptionally versatile resource. It includes the latest U.S. market indices, S&P’s daily after-trading market news snapshot, and S&P’s stock picks. Users can also search for information on particular companies and industries; evaluations and ratings of stocks, corporate bonds, and mutual funds; broker/dealer profiles; and biographies of thousands of corporate executives and directors. A calendar of upcoming economic events is another useful feature.

For novice investors, the Learning Center segment is of particular interest. It includes a detailed tutorial on retirement planning, a guide to the basics of smart investing, a glossary of investment terms, a section on taxes, and issues of particular interest to women investors.

NetAdvantage serves as a valuable tool to identify investment opportunities. Users can read the S&P Industry Surveys to learn about the latest trends in industries such as health care, computers, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, telecommunications, food and beverages, specialty chemicals, and many others. These reports are updated every six months, and the online archive of Industry Surveys currently goes back to 1999.

Other well known S&P publications contained in NetAdvantage include Stock Reports, Corporation Records; Security Dealers of North America; Register of Corporations, Directors & Executives; Mutual Fund Reports, and The Outlook (S&P’s premier investment advisory newsletter).

The Libraries also provide access to numerous other investment-related online resources. See the Finance & Investment Subject Guide to learn more.
