Ambassador to Vietnam Visits Southeast Asian Archive

Ambassador Michael Marine, Southeast Asian Archive Librarian Anne Frank, and Professor Linda Trinh Vo, Dept. of Asian American Studies

Michael Marine, the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, visited the Southeast Asian Archive on October 27, 2005 as part of his first official visit to Orange County.

In addition to receiving an orientation to the Archive’s significance as the leading collection of its kind in the world, Ambassador Marine’s visit to Langson Library included viewing the exhibit A SEAA of Memories: Our Changing Southeast Asian Communities and a preview of the new SEAAdoc website.

While on campus he also spoke on current issues in Vietnam to an overflow student audience at the Cross Cultural Center. The Ambassador’s visit to UCI and Orange County was hosted by Frank Jao, a leading businessman in Little Saigon in whose name the Jao Family Sculpture Garden was dedicated at UCI earlier in 2005.
