The UCI Libraries have developed a phased reopening plan to support research and instruction.
Current operational phase: Phase 2A
- Paging/pick-up services available by appointment for library materials outside the Langson Library front door or curbside in Lot 2 (Science Library, OC&SEAA, and select MRC materials may also be picked up at Langson).
- Limited reference and digitization services available for Special Collections and Archives.
- The main campus library buildings, including Multimedia Resources Center and Libraries Gateway Study Center, are closed to the public.
General Phased Approach
Movement between phases will be in alignment with campus and public health guidance.
- Phase 1: Buildings Closed, staff working remotely
- Phase 2 –
- Phase 2A

- Phase 2B
- Libraries Gateway Study Center and Multimedia Resources Center (at Science Library) will be open for studying. Limited study space will be available by appointment to current UC students, faculty, and staff only.
- Phase 2A
- Phase 3
- Phase 3a:
- Limited study space may be available in main library buildings.
- Closed Stacks. HathiTrust ETAS materials available online. Non-HathiTrust ETAS items available for paging/pick-up in library buildings and curbside.
- Phase 3b:
- Additional study seats added spaces opened for study.
- Phase 3c: This phase will likely not happen until remote instruction ends.
- Open Stacks.
- All study spaces reopened.
