As one of the web’s most visited reference sites, Wikipedia serves as a starting point for many individuals looking for information about any topic. However, only about 17% of biographies on Wikipedia are about women. The UCI School of Humanities, UCI Humanities Commons, Ridge 2 Reef, UCI Libraries, Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), Association for Women in Science (AWIS), and Women in Red are delighted to announce a wiki event to improve diversity on Wikipedia. During this training, attendees of all experience levels, including no prior experience, will learn the basics of how to edit Wikipedia by updating articles related to women and underrepresented groups.
