Virginia Allison
Research Librarian for Visual Arts

The new Research Librarian for Visual Arts (Studio Art, Art History, Film and Media Studies, and Visual Studies) is Virginia Allison. She arrives from Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, where she was Visual Arts Curator/Assistant Librarian. While a graduate student she held a variety of assistantships and internships through which she gained experience in an array of art library environments. Virginia has a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Alabama. Her B.F.A. in fine arts is from the University of Montevallo in Alabama.

In the first years of her professional career Virginia has already demonstrated her energy for professional achievement and involvement, having won both a scholarship and a travel award, led her local student chapter of the American Library Association.

Tina Breitbach
Research Librarian for Education and Outreach

Tina Breitbach has joined the UCI Libraries as Research Librarian for Education and Outreach. Her previous position was as librarian at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica, before which she was a reference and instruction intern at UCLA’s undergraduate library. She has strong experience as a teacher and developer of online instructional materials.

Tina’s degrees include a master’s of library and information science from UCLA and a B.A. in liberal arts from Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Prior to graduate school she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the West Indies and as a transliterator for the deaf and hard of hearing. She is an active member of both the American Library Association and the California Library Association.

Erin Conor
Research Librarian for the Performing Arts

Erin Conor arrived at UCI in July as the Research Librarian for the Performing Arts (Music, Dance, and Drama). She comes to us from the University of Washington, where she recently received her master’s degree in library and information science. Erin also has an M.A. in musicology from Washington, for which she wrote a thesis on 1950s female rockabilly singers. Erin worked as a graduate assistant at the UW Music Library, where she provided reference service to faculty, staff, and students and helped develop the Music Library’s collections.

While in Seattle, Erin was a first violinist for the Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra. She recently won a Pacific Northwest Music Library Association Travel Grant that she used to attend the 2007 Music Library Association’s National Conference.

Jenny Oenning
Director of Library Development

Jenny Oenning is the new Director of Development for the UCI Libraries. She comes to the Libraries with valuable experience from UCI’s Advancement Office, where she worked closely with the Executive Director of Development and with all campus Development Directors as Major Gifts Qualification Officer. Previously she was Assistant Director of Annual Giving at Claremont Graduate University. Jenny has experience with annual funds, alumni relations, marketing, and event planning. Her responsibilities include leading major gifts fund raising efforts for the Libraries, coordinating donor stewardship, and managing the Development Department.

She received her B.A. from Saint Mary's College of California and her M.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from Claremont Graduate University.
