Carole McEwan, Principal Serials Cataloger
In her position as Principal Serials Cataloger, Carole McEwan brings lengthy experience to the task of keeping the Libraries’ catalog up to date for all new and revised journal titles. She joins UCI from UC Berkeley, where she was responsible for cataloging both serials and electronic resources. She is involved in national professional organizations that develop and maintain standards to enable research libraries to do this work efficiently and at high quality.
Carole’s graduate degree in librarianship is from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, and she has a B.A. in English from UC Santa Barbara. Contact Carol McEwan in the Catalog Department at cmcewan@uci.edu or x44174.
Bruce Bromberger, Director of Space Planning and Facilities
Bruce Bromberger assumed the key position of Director of Space Planning and Facilities in March. He immediately began planning the Libraries’ next set of major renovation projects to maximize use of space and continue our ongoing efforts to make our buildings attractive and comfortable environments for study and research. He also manages ongoing facilities operations for the three library buildings: Langson, Science, and Grunigen Medical.
Bruce comes to the Libraries with many years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He has worked for both the Rancho Santiago and North Orange County community college districts, most recently as Plant Manager at Santa Ana College. Prior to moving into the educational environment, he spent many years as a facilities supervisor at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Ecology from UC Irvine.

Aimee Loya, Training and Organizational Development Officer
The new position of Training and Organizational Development Officer has been filled by Aimee Loya. She will be responsible for assessing training needs across the Libraries to ensure that all staff continue to meet the many demands of the rapidly-changing world of research libraries.
Aimee joins UCI from her previous position as Organizational Services Coordinator for the California Association Against Sexual Assault, where she provided training and technical assistance in management and organizational development to a statewide network of agencies. She holds a master’s degree in nonprofit administration from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. in integrative biology from UC Berkeley, where she was a Chancellor’s Scholar.
