World Bank e-Library & SourceOECD

The Libraries recently licensed two new databases containing publications and data from the World Bank and OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), two major international agencies that focus on the globalized economy.

World Bank e-Library is a digital gateway to the Bank’s collection of several thousand economic working papers, handbooks, thematic studies, and country analyses for nations all over the world. The materials focus on economic, social, or political development. Publication lists are browsable by subjects such as current affairs, globalization, poverty, public policy, governance, labor, and income, as well as by geographic region.

Data and research on both developed and developing economies are available in SourceOECD, which offers books, working papers, and data. Because the OECD maintains relationships with emerging economies, this database includes studies on nations beyond the thirty economically-developed countries that are OECD members. Statistics on consumer prices, education, health, international trade, demography, and other topics are retrievable in tabular format and exportable in Excel via the OECD Index of Statistical Variables. A special feature of the site is a gender discrimination database on 161 countries.

Diehard book lovers may rest assured that the Libraries will continue to receive World Bank and OECD publications that continue to be published in print.
