Library Recruitments

Four exceptional librarians have been appointed to positions in the Libraries since the last issue of Update was published in November 2007.

Kristine Ferry
Director of Web Services

Kristine Ferry became Director of Web Services for the Libraries in January 2008. She initially joined the staff in the fall of 2006 as Business Librarian and has provided excellent service to the faculty of the Paul Merage School of Business since then. She brings extensive experience in web development and management, as well as digital library development, via positions at CSU Los Angeles, the Kresge Business Administration Library at the University of Michigan, and the Thunderbird School of International Management in Arizona.

Kristine holds an M.S. degree in Information from the University of Michigan with a specialization in human-computer interaction. Her B.A. is in French from the University of Windsor, Canada.

Collette Ford
Head of Access Services

Collette Ford has been appointed Head of Access Services, the department that delivers front-line services to the Libraries’ patrons at loan desks, interlibrary loan and document delivery services, reserve services, and management of the library stacks at the Langson and Science libraries. Visitors to our facilities have more contact with Access Services than any other library department, and Collette is an avid advocate of ensuring that excellent customer service is paramount.

She comes prepared to hit the ground running, having worked in public services in the UCI Libraries since 1985. During her lengthy service to the UCI Libraries she also has contributed her public service skills as a reference librarian, in instructional services, and as manager of the Multimedia Resource Center in Langson. Her MLS degree is from UCLA.

Jeanine Scaramozzino
Research Librarian for Physics, Astronomy, and Mathematics

Jeanine Scaramozzino is the new Research Librarian for Physics, Astronomy, and Mathematics. She brings to the position strong experience in reference services and library instruction. She has served as temporary Reference Librarian in the Science Library since fall of 2006 and has held positions at Santa Ana College and Saddleback College. Her experience also includes two highly specialized libraries: Salinas Valley State Prison
and Stanford’s Hopkins
Marine Station.

Jeanine’s MLS degree is from San Jose State University. She also has B.A. and M.A. degrees in biological sciences from UC Santa Cruz.

Lisa Sibert
Electronic Resources Acquisitions Librarian

As the new Electronic Resources Librarian, Lisa Sibert plays the important role of licensing and acquisition of digital publications and other resources across all academic fields served by the Libraries. In previous positions she worked as a reference librarian for the Los Angeles County Public Library and was an intern at USC’s Science and Engineering Library.

Lisa’s recent MLIS in Library and Information Science is from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her B.A. is in Comparative Literature from California State University at Long Beach.
