Increasing Book Costs

The Libraries have not increased fees for replacing lost books in many years despite inflation. In the past, we decided to keep the prices steady as our users were taking the brunt of budget cuts and tuition increases, and we did not want to add to this burden. We also had sufficient funds to cover our replacements. However we recently analyzed the average price of books and noticed a steep increase in cost. Therefore, we will be increasing the fee to cover the cost of an average book. Effective January 2011, books in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will now cost $75 to replace and books in Science, Technology and Medicine will cost $100.
