Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can create a display?

    All Libraries student displays must consist of original student work. However, proposals are welcome from UCI students, student organizations, faculty, and staff.

  • Who will install the display of my work?

    Student display exhibitors and/or their faculty/staff representatives are responsible for the setup and takedown of their respective displays during regular library hours. However, the Libraries will provide guidance and installation support during the planning process.

  • Who can submit a display proposal?

    Proposals are welcome from UCI students, student organizations, faculty, and staff.

  • What types of information do I need to submit a proposal?

    The display proposal form asks the topic/theme of your display and the number, type, and size of the materials that you plan to display. You will also be asked your preferred display timeframe and location(s) as well as the types of accessories you will need to install your display.   • How long can student work be on display?

    Temporary displays will typically be on display for a limited period (no more than one academic quarter). See the full Libraries Student Displays Program guidelines and policies for more details.

  • What types of materials and accessories are available to display my work?

    UCI Libraries has a limited selection of display mediums available for use, including display walls and hanging accessories, a digital screen (Science Library only), and a floor display case.   • Where can I display my materials?

    Specific areas in Langson and Science Libraries have been designated for student displays. Please see the Locations and Materials PDF for photos and descriptions of the available locations.

  • Are there restrictions on the types of materials I can display?

    Yes, selling, fundraising, and solicitation are prohibited, and displays may not promote the financial profit of any individual, organization, or commercial enterprise. Displays also must be free of copyright restrictions and may not endorse or promote any political party, ballot measure, or political candidate for public office.
