Funding Support and Discounts by Publisher
The University of California has several transformative open access agreements with scholarly publishers that enable UC-affiliated corresponding authors to publish their research open access in journals covered under the agreements at reduced or no cost.
UC funds these open access publishing agreements by repurposing library subscription money; neither the libraries nor the University are incurring higher costs to help authors pay for open access publishing.
UC currently has open access agreements with the following publishers:
Open Access Publication Pilot Program to Support UC Irvine Monograph Authors
Focus on monographs used for UC instruction using publisher open access programs
The Libraries are launching a two-year pilot of a program to support UC Irvine authors who are publishing monographs with commercial, university, or society publishers that will be used as course materials either at UC Irvine and/or elsewhere within the University of California. The initial pilot program period will be July 1, 2023 through June 2025. More information
